Don’t Grow Up Like Me

Sitting in my car, waiting for a commuter train. Forty hour work week is done. I’m listening to Suicidal Tendencies, Bloodhound Gang, Violent Femmes and a host of other bands on Youtube in one of three of the cars I own. Naturally, I have a Samsung note 8 and an unlimited data plan. I’m not saying all this to brag. I used to listen to Suicidal Tendencies on a tape deck in my brothers AMC Concord 1978 with stolen tower speakers in the back seat, smoking cheap cigarettes and drinking night train in the parking lot of my high school after theater rehearsals. Naturally, I had spiked hair, leather jacket, and chains.

My path to my current location is definitely not straight or planed. A lot of luck and right place at the right time. I’m not 100% satisfied where I ended up, but it’s not a bad place. I have a loving family, a good house and yard, bills are getting paid. When we focus on the present too much we forget the struggle to get here. I’m here by total accident. You are here reading this by choice, thanks for taking the time.
