He was X we remember him for Y

Day 18

Hello reader, just a side note here, I’ll be putting these poems on my podcast in May and discussing my journey. The podcast is KDOI Podcasting click on the link, there is 3 seasons worth of art, discussion, interviews projects and more.

Today, I’d like to challenge you to write an elegy of your own, one in which the abstraction of sadness is communicated not through abstract words, but physical detail. This may not be a “fun” prompt, but loss is one of the most universal and human experiences, and some of the world’s most moving art is an effort to understand and deal with it.

He was X we remember him for Y

18 April 2019

Thank you friends, kids and cats

for attending the meeting today

If you are just going to sob and cry

please go to the funny room

where we have tissue and videos to make you smile

For those that have a score to settle

see the Marines near the grill

and ask them about crayons

The people inspired by the guest of dishonor

just remember the things you will hear tonight

may make you rethink your feelings,

remember this, you used to think he was the shit

To those people who want money

you are looking at it today,

this celebration costs a lot of money,

have an extra weenie on a stick

Anyone approaching the family

please look up and around

snipers are trained on you

we can make this a two for one wake, they have boxes of ammo

We have asked you to tell when you first met the recently departed

and what is your strongest memory,

not fondest

His children would like to know

the type and impact he had on those around him

This is a once in a lifetime event

after this he will be cremated

his remains will be divided equally

and spread across the world

according to his wishes

So if you got something to say, do it now

there will be no tombstone to come back to

My job as the MC is done, so I’ll start

followed by his wife and children

the line forms here

DVD’s will be available next week

commemorative mugs, signed poetry books, collections of podcasts on CD and flash drives, signed prints of artwork are all in the back for your viewing,

we take all forms of payment

so now here we go

Hello my name is …

damn this feels like an AA meeting don’t it
