And It’s Friday

#NaPoWriMo

Day 26

Hello reader, just a side note here, I’ll be putting these poems on my podcast in May and discussing my journey. The podcast is KDOI Podcasting click on the link, there are 3 seasons worth of art, discussion, interviews projects and more.

Write a poem that uses repetition. You can repeat a word, or phrase. You can even repeat an image, perhaps slightly changing or enlarging it from stanza to stanza, to alter its meaning. There are (perhaps paradoxically) infinite possibilities in repetition.

And It’s Friday

26 April 2019

Central Texas nights, guzzling coffee

talking art/poetry/revolution

smoking till fingers are yellowed

carrying on till the hours before dawn

doing laundry iron and fold put away

Northern Illinois coffee shops, seedy bars

smoking pot grabbing ass for lust

trying to relive days of the past that no one remembers

trying to find my tribe

doing laundry iron and fold put away

College study shows party

deliver pizza lesson plans

trying to adult trying to find who I am

Central Virginia, I’m not native

just a carpet bager

doing laundry iron and fold put away

Back in the homeland tail between my legs

being meek and mild stopping the inspiration

stopping my voice stopping me

80 hour work weeks monthly car rentals

doing laundry iron and fold put away

Broke away to Chicago second home

found it again Found It Again

FOUND IT AGAIN

put my life back on track

doing laundry iron and fold put away

Back to being the carpet bagger

Building the life, building the family

watching the generation behind me on video

philosophy at a coffee house

I’m watching anonymously

almost 25 years ago someone watched me

shaking the head of knowledge experience

doing laundry iron and fold put away
