Word of the day Gesture

Gesture

Movement, usually with a hand, to convey a message.

I’ve given the one finger salute many times. When I give presentations I move my hands around with purpose and not nervousness. I just feel that sometimes words fail us and my demonstrating or mimicking movement, my point becomes clearer.

Gesture is not like beckinig, because we are not necessarily trying to give directions toward or away from something, rather we are demonstrating to make the point clearer.

I wished that people had gestured at me before I made boneheaded mistakes. Gesturing doesn’t seem to be as passionate as gesticulating. Now that takes some passion.

Gesture has purpose, direction and instills clarity. Don’t we all need that in our lives.
